A Brief History of the Art

Fr. Rabagliati, who was an expert pianist, multi-lingual, and an artist at heart, entrusted the decoration of the new Church to a Venetian painter named Fausto Tasca who lived in Los Angeles. Tasca, a master of color and perspective, painted the beautiful canvases for the ceiling and the walls of the Church. The nine beautiful paintings depicted the Apostles and Evangelists, and a huge and impressive Crucifixion and Last Judgement. Carlo Romanelli, a famous sculptor, masterfully crafted the statues of Our Lady, the Sacred Heart, St. Anne, and St. Joseph.

The beautiful paintings and statues together with the magnificent stained glass windows each depicting one of the 15 Mysteries of the Rosary make OLR an artistic jewel, admired and unique in Southern California.
