Deacon Stephen O'Riordan was born and raised in Los Angeles. He moved to San Diego in 1971. He attended UCSD receiving a Bachelor degree in Communication and a Masters in Fine Arts. In 1987 he married Vickie and they have two fantastic sons, Jake & Simon. Dcn Stephen worked in the UCSD Library, as Film Curator, from 1987 to when he retired in 2014. He and his wife Vickie have attended Our Lady of the Rosary since 1994. They both served as Lectors and Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, as well as, serving on various committees including the first Pastoral Council. Ordained by Bishop Brom in 2008, Deacon Stephen serves at Our Lady of the Rosary. He conducts baptism and marriage preparation, presides at baptisms and marriages, serves as Deacon of the Mass and preaches once a month. You can find his homilies at deaconstephen.blogspot.com. Deacon Stephen trains and leads OLR Lay Ministers (Lectors & Extraordinary Ministers of Communion), Severs and Acolytes. He chairs the Liturgy Committee, sits on OLR Pastoral and Financial Councils, advices the Marriage/Family life and Charity/Outreach committees. Deacon Stephen serves Holy Cross cemetery by conducting committal services for families. For the Diocese of San Diego Deacon Stephen leads the diocesan liturgical training for Permanent Deacon candidates, as well as, serving on bishop's liturgy team.
